It gained popularity in the 1930s-1950s due to its association with high-end fashion and Hollywood glamour. The brand was known for its signature scent, Le Dix, and for pioneering new skincare formulations, such as the first water-soluble face powder. In 1963, Charles of the Ritz was acquired by cosmetic giant Revlon, and the brand eventually phased out in the 1980s. However, in recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in the brand, with some products being re-released under the Charles of the Ritz name.
